Ouachita hath been Conquered
Yes, you heard right. We came, we saw, we conquered. Got conquered, that is. An entry into this event is a one-way ticket on the Pain Train to Suffering-ville. Gino Felino finished in just under 7 hours putting him in the upper half of the field of 200. Casey Ryback finished somewhere along the lines of 117th overall, and Mason Storm stormed his way through most of the course, but didn't quite make the time cut-off for the last checkpoint due to the fact that he was too busy affixing an intravenous-drip of Mountain Dew into any and all exposed veins that he could find. He did, however, endure just enough pain to ensure that next year, there will not just be a glorious return to the OC, but a complete and total domination.
Leaving the Oden Schoolhouse at 8AM sharp, the opening fire roads gave us just a little bit of a teaser regarding the hills that were to come. Blowout Mountain is, simply put, miles and miles of uphill pain. The downhills were rather pain-filled as well, due to a team-wide lack of any type of suspension on our ferrous velocipedes. Fear not though, the downhills allowed your heroes to gain some confidence by allowing us to go faster than those who dared stand in our way. Musta been the Chinese herbs. Anyway, The Womble trail definitely treated us better than the Ouachita, despite still having its fair share of hills that required some push-a-bike. Those that were left standing within the last 10 miles were left to contend with one final climb, as marked on the posted elevation profile. As one fellow extreme racer commented, "I don't know how the gravel stays on the hill, it is so steep." How true that was.
Amidst endless hours on the road, waif-like waitresses who liked our non-redneck tendencies and Vans shoes, Hall & Oats, wood-paneled hotel rooms and a veritable sea of energy gels, Team Seagal has definitely marked the shit out of its territory deep within the heart of Arkansas. Due to technical difficulties, we do not have, at this very moment, Official Team Seagal photos ready for viewing, but rest assured that there will be a few coming your way. So stop fucking asking.
Much needs to be said for the town of Oden, the people of which do a lot for this event - everything from manning aid stations, to opening up the school for sleeping, to cooking food for us, to directing us delirious racers as to which way to turn, and let us not forget how they opened the showers at the school for us - nothing could have felt better after crossing the finish line. And let's not forget all the encouragement at different points on the course!
In the end, we know you're jealous.

Thoughts for the upcoming Ouachita Challenge

Greetings to the loyal Team Seagal fans out there. This week many of us have had time to reflect on the upcoming race known as the Ouachita Challenge. As surprising as it may sound, victory is not necessarily guaranteed for our team during this race. 60 miles of singletrack is sure to turn our quads into applesauce, and our minds into pudding. So before the 3 participating members of Team Seagal are pronounced dead, we wanted to make sure that we thanked a few people: Steven Seagal, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and all those who gave us a good run for our money, only to be crushed. We've come up with a plan though - we've hired some classy broads to meet us at the finishing line, that way we have something extra to motivate us as we're questioning existence 3/4 of the way up the 6+ mile climbs. I've attached a picture of this group of lovely ladies.

(R)Official Rim Wrecker Results
See these links for the results. If only they listed team names on these results! We are really, REALLY wanting to see "Team Seagal" officially recorded down somewhere.

Complete and total domination is the only way to fly - that works for competition, and for malt beverages. Here is a link to the overall class breakdown: http://www.midwestfattireseries.com/Results2007/No_2.html
By the way, we were thinking of adapting a DRJ slogan for our own use: "Every Ride is a Race - to the cooler!" Thoughts?

Early Reaction to Rim Wrecker
Hello again to you, the Team Seagal fan. Without you, we'd just be a bunch of jackasses.
Team Seagal was showing full force for the annual Rim Wrecker Race at Council Bluff. The direction of the race (clockwise) certainly slowed our ascension to glory, in that it is the slower, less-baller direction. The weather was absolutely PERFECT, as were the trail conditions. Kudos to the St. Louis Cycling Club for doing some much needed spring cleaning on this trail in preparation for this race. Thanks are also in order to Mason Storm for providing us all with delicious PBRs for pre- and post-ride libations.
4 official members participated today, as did one unofficial member due to his allegiance to some other team of inferior attitude, and inferior state of mind. Official results are not yet posted. however, once they are posted, we'll be sure to be very quick to inform you of how glorious we did. As for now, rest assured that all others were cowering in the shadow of Team Seagal. We both endured and dished out much pain, a few wrecks, and a lot of carbohydrate consumption. Did I say carbohydrate? I actually meant to say Chinese Herbs. At this rate, our complete and total domination of all that lays before us is simply inevitable. Stay tuned to this site for official Rim Wrecker results, and information regarding the Ouachita Challenge, which you may remember is this coming weekend.
Check out the picture of our supreme campfire, and also note in the second picture how the local mexican restaurant spelled "Busch" as in Busch Beer.

Bikes, lakes, and PAIN
First, we must apologize profusely to those of you who have been waiting eagerly for the next update. Things go slowly at this time of the season, but now that the first race of 2007 is behind us, we "promise" to be more attentive to the needs of you, the Team Seagal fan.
Second order of business: This weekend is looking to be the first big race of the season - the Rim Wrecker, put on by St. Louis Cycling Club at Council Bluff Lake. Mason Storm is hoping to continue his reign of terror over the Singlespeed class, while Casey Ryback and Gino Felino are planning on demoralizing the Endurance class. (That's right, it's 3 hours which should translate into eeking out 3 laps.) We're hoping it will be a good ramp-up to the Ouachita Challenge on the following weekend. One possible problem will be the rain that is showing up for all of this week. Rest assured though, we'll have our chinese herbs out while we're praying to the elders and the rains spirits, asking them to give us a dry race.
In other news, we seem to be attracting other badass people who want to be badass with us. In fact, last weekend's Lost Valley Luau looks to have lasso'd two more like-minded lads into our libation-laden lot; they're likely to lift our already elevated levels of liveliness, likewise we look forward to laughing a lot with them.
More to come after the race.

A Personal Look at the Team
Greetings. Today we begin a new series that allows you, the Team Seagal Fan, to get to know the members of this racing powerhouse. This is a glorious moment for you. We're going to take a moment to interview each of the members, and find out what is going on inside their minds this season - their motivations, their inspirations, and their bone-snapping-ations.
First in the spotlight is Casey Ryback. We sat down with Ryback on the Poop Deck of the Battleship Missouri, after he had finished personally preparing Captain Adam's dinner.
TS: "So Casey, tell your fans what kind of training you're going through to prepare for the upcoming racing season."
CR: "You know, I don't need any further training. I'm an Ex-Navy Seal, expert in martial arts, explosives, weapons and tactics, with a Silver Star, Navy Cross, and a Purple Heart with Cluster."
TS: "But don't you think that is a little presumtuous, to race without any actual training? Sounds like you won't be seeing any banks for a while, because without training, you won't be winning any races and therefore won't acquire any winnings."
CR: "How about I take YOU to the bank - the BLOOD bank."
TS: "Hey, what are you do..." *SNAP!* "gaaaarhhhhhe...."
CR (staring at the corpse before him): "Do you like being dead?" (Then slams a Cherry Charge)

Grand Opening with amazing announcements
Welcome all Team Seagal afficionados. Now that some annoying login confusion has been cleared up, we are finally able to keep you up to date.
First big announcement to be made is that 3 Team members, Casey Ryback, Gino Felino, and Mason Storm have secured spots for the Ouachita Challenge. The Tour will be held on Saturday, whereas the race will be taking place on Sunday. We will be riding our singlespeeds on Sunday. Being that all 3 of us have superior states of mind, we were some of the first to register upon the opening of registration. Our superior attitudes will carry us through the toughest of technical climbs and the fastest, most eye-watering of descents. Whether or not we will simply break the arms of all that stand before us, or just go all out and snap their necks, has yet to be decided. One thing is for sure, however - many beers and Cherry Charges will be consumed.
Just a few of the events that we plan on annihlating this year: 24 hours of Landahl, 24 hours of Moab, Burnin' @ the Bluff. More to come as they come into our crosshairs.
